Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has written to Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria seeking parole for Jagtar Singh Hawara, citing the health condition of his ailing mother.
In his letter, the Chief Minister reportedly urged the Governor to consider the matter on humanitarian and family grounds, stating that Hawara’s presence could be important for the care of his mother during her illness.
Mann has appealed for the request to be considered sympathetically in accordance with the applicable rules, keeping in view the circumstances and the health of Hawara’s mother.
The Chief Minister has also sought necessary action on the parole request, citing the sensitive nature of the matter and the family’s circumstances.
The letter has brought renewed attention to the possibility of Hawara being granted parole. Further developments are now awaited on the request.

ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ’ਚ ਬੰਦ ਜਗਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਹਵਾਰਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਨਵੀ ਅਧਾਰ ’ਤੇ ਦਸ ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਪੈਰੋਲ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਾਰਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਪੈਰੋਲ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਖ਼ਰੀ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਹੁਣ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ ਨੇ ਲੈਣਾ ਹੈ। ਜਗਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਹਵਾਰਾ ਕਰੀਬ 29 ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ’ਚ ਬੰਦ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਰੋਲ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਾਰਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਤਰ ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਜਗਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਹਵਾਰਾ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਵਿਗੜ ਰਹੀ ਸਿਹਤ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ ਹਵਾਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਲਦ ਪੈਰੋਲ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਾਰਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਵਾਰਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਚਾਰ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਦੀ ਪੈਰੋਲ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ
ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਲਿਖੇ ਪੱਤਰ ’ਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਗਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਹਵਾਰਾ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਹਤ ਠੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਜਗਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਹਵਾਰਾ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਤੇ ਹਰਿਆਣਾ ਹਾਈ ਕੋਰਟ ’ਚ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਬਾਬਤ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਦਾਇਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ’ਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਚਾਰ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਦੀ ਪੈਰੋਲ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਪੰਥਕ ਧਿਰਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਲੰਮੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਗਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਹਵਾਰਾ ਦੀ ਪੈਰੋਲ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ।
