CHIEF MINISTER’S OFFICE ON SECOND FLOOR OF CHANDIGARH CIVIL SECRETARIAT is the saddest time in a democracy. This is happening in Punjab today.
And this is not about a “barely surviving” newspaper that has to survive on the Government doles. This is about one of the oldest newspapers in the country, The Tribune, whose editorial pages seem to have been supervised and “DRAFTED” in the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office.

Ms Jyoti Malhotra wrote a signed article on the editorial page in which she has attributed maliciously false statements to me that I never made. She didn’t even bother to cross check whether I had actually said what she was attributing to me so carelessly and irresponsibly.
I am quoting her here, verbatim. She wrote, “as far as Congress party’s Sukhpal Khaira, his outrageous comments linking ‘dancing women’ with the benefits of Rs 1,000 payout should encourage the party to immediately banish him to #Kalapani, where he should repent deeply and seek forgiveness well he should beware the rage of Punjab’s women…as for dancing women, all of Punjab’s men, including Khaira, should know these ‘naachnewaalis’ are doing an honest days work”.
Her writing makes it obvious she has absolutely not heard what I said. First of all, I never mentioned any “dancing women” anywhere ever. During an interview, I only referred to a social media influencer’s remarks that would those women who will depend on Rs 1,000 government doles produce bravehearts like Shaheed Bhagat Singh?
May I ask, with due respects and regards, Madam Malhotra who is dancing on whose tunes? Not only has she tried to please the AAP government, she has gone beyond, like being “more loyal than the King”.
This article has obviously been written to tarnish my image and attribute to me such malicious and misogynistic comments, which I have never made.
Going by her article, I am sorry to conclude, with full sense of responsibility, that Madam Malhotra, while holding the prestigious and dignified position of the Editor-in-Chief of a reputed and a respected newspaper like The Tribune, has acted more like a Spokesperson of the
@AAPPunjab
government, than an honest ombudsman, which an editor is supposed and expected to be.
Whole of Punjab knows that I have always been targeted by the AAP government because I speak truth to their power, a thing ideally a newspaper is also supposed to do. I don’t expect any support or favour from The Tribune, but I do expect them to be not so UNFAIR, so PREJUDICED and so BIASED just because the paper wants to please and appease the government.
While I reiterate I never made any comment like “dancing women”, I am saying it today, The Tribune Editor-in-Chief has danced like a puppet on the AAP’s tune while shutting her eyes on the truth.
Needless to add, whenever a newspaper carries such allegations about anyone, she/he is asked for her/his version. The Tribune never bothered to ask me whether I had really said so. Obviously it wouldn’t ask me, because that would negate the AAP’s propaganda.
Apart from the malicious comments made by her I’ve also learnt that the Hon’ble Editor has passed verbal instructions that no news of Mr Khaira should be carried without her prior permission !
Keeping in view her highly prejudiced and biased mindset, i will shortly be filing a criminal defamation suit against her and The Tribune with a heavy heart, as The Tribune is part of Punjab’s history and culture, I wanted to put the record straight, lest my silence be taken as my guilt.

ਟ੍ਰਿਬਿਊਨ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ‘ਆਪ’ ਕੰਟਰੋਲਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੇਠ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਜੇ-ਪੱਖੀ ਬਿਰਤਾਂਤ ਦਾ ਫਿਰ ਖੁਲਾਸਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਨੇ ਸਮਾਣਾ ਮੋਰਚੇ ‘ਤੇ ਮਾਈ ਭਾਗੋ ਦੇ ਅਸਲ ਵਾਰਸਾਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਦਰਸਾਇਆ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਰੋਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਤੁਲਨਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ‘ਤੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ‘ਆਪ’ ਕੰਟਰੋਲਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਰਪ੍ਰਸਤੀ ਹੇਠ ਨੱਚ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਟ੍ਰਿਬਿਊਨ ਦੀ ਮੁੱਖ ਸੰਪਾਦਕ ਨੇ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੁੱਚੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਪੋਲਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਲਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਪਰ ਖਹਿਰੇ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਕਹਿਣ ਤੱਕ ਗਏ ਨੇ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉੱਥੇ ਪਛਤਾਵਾ ਕਰੇ।
ਸੰਪਾਦਕੀ ਪੰਨੇ ਦੇ ਲੇਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਹਿਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੁਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਟਾਰਗੇਟ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਹਾਈ ਕਮਾਂਡ ਤੱਕ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ, ਉਹ ਖਫਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਜੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਣ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ।
“ਆਪ” ਦੀ ਲੀਡਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਠੱਗ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਵੀ ਇਹੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਨੇ।
ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਦੀ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ “ਆਪ” ਦੀਆਂ ਗਿੱਧਾ ਪਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪੰਜ-ਸੱਤ ਵਰਕਰ ਜਨਾਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਟ੍ਰਿਬਿਊਨ ਦੀ ਸੰਪਾਦਕ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਨੇ ਜਾਣ ਬੁਝ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਮੂਹ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਭੱਦੇ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦਲੇਰੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੇਜਰੀਵਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਵਿਖਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਹਿੰਮਤ ਕਰੋ। ਨਾਲੇ ਉਹ ਇਸ਼ਤਿਹਾਰ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਨੇ ਤੇ ਨਾਲੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਲਝਾਉਣ ਤੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਨੇ। ਉਦੋਂ ਗੱਲ ਵਲੇਵੇਂ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਨੇ।

ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਦੀ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਕੁ ਜਾਨ?
ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਐਮਪੀਜ਼ ਜਾਂ ਵਿਧਾਇਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਿਸਕੁਆਲੀਫਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ:
🔹 ਜੇ ਭ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਚਾਰ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ, (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰਿਸ਼ਵਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਵਾਲ ਪੁੱਛਣਾ ਜਾਂ ਸੰਸਦੀ ਕੰਮ ‘ਚ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਉਣਾ), ਤਾਂ ਸਦਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢਣ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
🔹 ਪਰ ਜੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜਾਂ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਬਦਲੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਲੱਗੇ,
ਤਾਂ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਇਸ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਵੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
📌 ਸਪ੍ਰੀਮ ਕੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ (Privileges) ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਵਰਤੇ ਜਾਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਦੋਂ ਸਦਨ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਜਾਂ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ।

ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਅਸੀਮਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਜੇ ਇਸਦੀ ਗਲਤ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਦਖ਼ਲ ਦੇ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਦਲ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੈਪਟਨ ਅਮਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਤਾਨਾਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਸੁਪਰੀਮ ਕੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਡ ਗਈ ਸੀ।
ਹੁਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਤਾਨਾਸ਼ਾਹ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਇਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

ਪਿਛਲੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਦਿਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਦੀ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਹੀ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਦਾ ਇਜਲਾਸ ਘੁਮਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਨਤੀਜੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੁੱਚੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ-ਬੰਦੇ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਈ।
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਦੀ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਵੱਡਾ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ, ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੁੱਚੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰ ਵੱਡਾ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਬਣਾ ਸਕੀ।
ਖਹਿਰਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਨਾਲ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਜਲੂਸ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਇਸੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੁੱਦੇ ‘ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਇਹ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਖਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਠਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਵੀ ਲਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਬਾਵਾ ਹੈਨਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦੀ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੋਤ ਕਹਿ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਦੋ ਗਲਤੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਠੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ। ਭਾਵ ਉਹ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੁੱਚੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਗਲਤੀ ਮੰਨ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ।
ਪੰਜ ਮਿੰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਐਮਐਸਪੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੀਬੀ ਅੱਜ “ਆਈ ਡੋਂਟ ਨੋ” ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੱਕਰ ਗਈ।
ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ ਕਿ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿਰਫ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਚੁਸਤੀ ਚਲਾਕੀ ਹੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਜਾਂ ਇਹ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਇਹ ਖਹਿਰੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਚੁੱਕੇਗਾ।
ਪਿਛਲੇ ਹਫਤਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਸੀਐਮ ਲਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਰੌਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਵਾਰ-ਵਾਰ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਣਾ ਵਿਖਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਨਾ ਕੇਜਰੀਵਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਨ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ “ਸਭ ਅੱਛਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ”।
ਉਪ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਬਣਨ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਦਾਅਵੇਦਾਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਸਪੀਕਰ ਕੁਲਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਮਸਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਲਾਇਆ।
ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਜਨਤਕ ਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੂਚਕ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਪ੍ਰੋਫਾਈਲਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ (ਲਾਈਕਸ, ਟਿੱਪਣੀਆਂ, ਵਿਯੂਜ਼) 95 ‘ਆਪ’ ਵਿਧਾਇਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਪੰਨਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਦਸ ਗੁਣਾ ਹੈ।
95 ਪ੍ਰਤੀਸ਼ਤ ਟਿੱਪਣੀਆਂ ‘ਆਪ’ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦਾ ਆਈਟੀ ਸੈੱਲ ਨਕਾਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਫਿਲਹਾਲ ਜੋ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਜਲੂਸ ਤਾਂ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ ਹੀ ਹੈ “ਆਪ” ਦਾ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਵੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

ਇਹ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਦੇ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ 1000 ਦੀ ਸਕੀਮ ਤੇ “ਆਪ” ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਲੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦਿਸਦੀਆਂ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਰਕਰ ਜਨਾਨੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਗਿੱਧਾ ਪਾਉਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੀ।
ਖਹਿਰਾ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੋਈ ਸਮੂਹਕ ਭੱਦੀ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ। ਪਰ ਟ੍ਰਿਬਿਊਨ ਦਾ ਐਡੀਟੋਰੀਅਲ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਜਲੀਲ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ।
ਇਸ ਦੇ ਉਲਟ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਿੱਪਣੀਆਂ ਲੁੱਚੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਵਰਤੇ ਗਏ ਨੇ, ਉਹ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੱਖਾਪਣ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਗਾਇਬ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
ਜੇ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਅਹੁਦਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਜਿਆਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਰ ਟ੍ਰਿਬਿਊਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਐਡੀਟੋਰੀਅਲ ਦੇ ਹੈਡਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਟਾਰਗੇਟ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਹਰਪਾਲ ਚੀਮਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਲਲਕਾਰਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਰਤਿਆ।
ਤੱਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧਾਰ ‘ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਆਗੂ ਦੀ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਪਰ ਟ੍ਰਿਬਿਊਨ ਤੱਥ ਵੀ ਅੱਖੋਂ ਉਹਲੇ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਬਾਰੇ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਡਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਹਿਲਾ ਨਵਜੋਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਵੀ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਠੱਗਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਦੇ ਗਠਜੋੜ ਨੇ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਚਲਾਈ ਸੀ, ਟ੍ਰਿਬਿਊਨ ਸਮੂਹ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬਕਾਇਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਸੀ।
ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਟ੍ਰਿਬਿਊਨ ਨੇ ਉਦੋਂ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਡਾਕਟਰ ਨਵਜੋਤ ਕੌਰ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਕੈਂਸਰ ਦਾ ਇਲਾਜ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਬੜੀ ਭੈੜੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਲੰਘ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸੰਕਟ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਨਵਜੋਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਕਮੈਂਟਰੀ ਵੱਲ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਟ੍ਰਿਬਿਊਨ ਨੇ ਕਾਵਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਠੂੰਗੇ ਮਾਰਦੀ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਦਾ ਮਖੌਲ ਉਡਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਖਬਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਲਿਖੀ।
ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਵੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਰਤੂਤ ਨੰਗੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ।
ਪਿਛਲੇ ਚਾਰ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਹਰ ਪਾਸਿਓਂ ਬੁਰਾ ਹਾਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਰ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਟ੍ਰਿਬਿਊਨ ਜਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਟ੍ਰਿਬਿਊਨ ਨੇ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਕ ਵੀ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਖਬਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਖੀ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਤਿੱਖੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਜਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਲਿਖ ਰਹੇ ਨੇ।
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਪੱਖੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਬਹਾਨੇ ਟਾਰਗੇਟ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਬੜੀ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ।
ਖਹਿਰਾ ਜਾਂ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਵਰਗਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ, ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਬਾਜਵਾ ਤੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਵੜਿੰਗ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਨ।
