ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਇੱਕ ਅਹਿਮ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਗੈਂਗਸਟਰ ਕਲਚਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਖੁਲਾਸੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ। ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਖਰਾਬ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੈਂਗਸਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਸੀਐਮ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਹਿਸ਼ਤ ਫੈਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਪਰਾਧੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਹੁਣ ਗਿਣੇ-ਮਿਣੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ, ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੁਕੇ ਗੈਂਗਸਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਏਜੰਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਤੇਜ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਗੈਂਗਸਟਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਅਮਨ-ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਕ ਸਾਂਝ ਨੂੰ ਭੰਗ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਦੀ ਸਾਬਰਮਤੀ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦ ਗੈਂਗਸਟਰ ਲਾਰੈਂਸ ਬਿਸ਼ਨੋਈ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ‘ਤੇ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਇਲਜ਼ਾਮ ਲਗਾਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ, ਲਾਰੈਂਸ ਬਿਸ਼ਨੋਈ ਸਾਬਰਮਤੀ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀਆਈਪੀ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਵਾਲ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਖ਼ਤਰਨਾਕ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ?
CM ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਲਾਰੈਂਸ ਬਿਸ਼ਨੋਈ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਫਿਕਰ ਹੈ। ਧਰਮ ਪਰਿਵਰਤਨ ਅਤੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਮਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਕਰੜੇ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਲਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀਆਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਜਾਂ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਵੰਡ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ‘ਪੱਤਾ’ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਲੇਗਾ।
Chandigarh, March 16, 2026:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday announced that his government will intensify efforts to bring back gangsters operating from foreign countries who are allegedly attempting to destabilize law and order in Punjab.
Addressing a press conference, Mann warned criminals operating from abroad that their days are numbered. He said the state government is working with central agencies and the Ministry of External Affairs to accelerate the process of tracking, arresting and extraditing gangsters hiding overseas. “Those who are sitting abroad and trying to disturb peace in Punjab will be brought back and made to face the law,” the Chief Minister said, adding that the government will not allow anyone to disrupt the state’s communal harmony and security.
Mann also raised questions about the alleged “VIP treatment” being given to jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat. The Chief Minister alleged that Bishnoi was enjoying special privileges in prison and questioned why such facilities were being extended to a criminal accused in several serious cases.
Targeting the Centre, Mann said it appeared that the government was more concerned about Bishnoi’s safety and comfort than about the security of ordinary citizens. He called for strict action against organised crime networks that operate across states and borders.
The Chief Minister also criticized remarks related to religious conversion made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, reiterating that Punjab’s history of sacrifices and communal harmony would not allow divisive politics based on religion to take root in the state. Mann emphasized that Punjabis have always stood firmly against injustice and any attempt to spread hatred or division would be strongly resisted.
