A 46-year-old Punjabi-origin man, Yadwinder Singh, accused of murdering his wife by hitting her with a brick on their farm near Brisbane, will stand trial following a committal hearing in court. ਆਸਟਰੇਲੀਆ ਵਿਚ 46 ਸਾਲਾ ਯਾਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਅਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਦਾ ਕਤਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ, ਪਰ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਵਿਰੁਧ ਟਰਾਇਲ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ ।
ਪੁਲਿਸ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਯਾਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਰਵਰੀ 2024 ਵਿਚ ਬ੍ਰਿਸਬੇਨ ਨੇੜੇ ਅਪਣੇ ਫ਼ਾਰਮ ਵਿਚ ਅਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਸਰਦਾਰ (41) ਦਾ ਇੱਟ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਕਤਲ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਸੀ । ਯਾਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਟਰੈਕਟਰ- ਸ਼ਲੈਸ਼ਰ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਇਕ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਹਾਦਸਾ ਸੀ। ਜ਼ਿਕਰਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ ਮੁਜ਼ਰਮ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਵੀ ਰੱਦ ਕਰ ਦਿਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਤਨੀ ਦੇ ਕਤਲ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਦਾ ਟਰਾਇਲ ਚੱਲੇਗਾਬ੍ਰਿਸਬੇਨ ਨੇੜੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਫਾਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਟ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਕਤਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ੪੬ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਮੂਲ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਯਾਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਾ ਟਰਾਇਲ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੱਲੇਗਾ। ਸਿੰਘ, ਜੋ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਨੇੜੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਿੰਡ ਤੋਂ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ੪੧ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕੌਰ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਦੇ ਕਤਲ ਅਤੇ ਲਾਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਛੇੜਛਾੜ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੇਠ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਘਟਨਾ ਫਰਵਰੀ ੨੦੨੪ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਵੀਨਜ਼ਲੈਂਡ ਦੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਸਬੇਨ ਦੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਡਹਿੱਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ੫੫ ਹੈਕਟੇਅਰ ਫਾਰਮਿੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਰਟੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਾਪਰੀ ਸੀ।ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕਥਿਤ ਤੌਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਟਰੈਕਟਰ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਲੈਸ਼ਰ ਮਸ਼ੀਨ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਰਘਟਨਾ ਵਾਂਗ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਟਰੈਕਟਰ ਨੇੜੇ ਖੂਨ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਘੱਟ ਮਾਤਰਾ ਮਿਲੀ, ਜਿਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਫੋਰੈਂਸਿਕ ਪੈਥੋਲੌਜਿਸਟ ਡਾ. ਬੈਂਗ ਓਂਗ ਨੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਜੇ ਉਹ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਚੋਟ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਤਾਂ ਅਣਸੰਭਵ ਹੈ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੀਪੀਆਰ ਦੇ ਰਹਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ ਜਾਪ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਸੁਣਵਾਈ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੋਈ ਸਬੂਤ ਪੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ, ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂ ਪਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਐਂਟਰ ਕੀਤੀ।ਮੈਜਿਸਟ੍ਰੇਟ ਨੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਕਵੀਨਜ਼ਲੈਂਡ ਸੁਪਰੀਮ ਕੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਰਾਇਲ ਲਈ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਹ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਬੇਲ ਤੋਂ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੋ ਕਿਸ਼ੋਰ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਨਿਭਾਇਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਗੰਨੇ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਾਂ, ਜਾਨਵਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਫਾਰਮ ਵਾਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਰਟੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਸੀਨ ਤੋਂ ਟਰੈਕਟਰ, ਸਲੈਸ਼ਰ ਅਟੈਚਮੈਂਟ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੈਡਾਨ ਜਬਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।ਇਹ ਕੇਸ ਗ੍ਰਾਮੀਣ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਘਰੇਲੂ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀਆਂ ਚਿੰਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਟਰੈਕਟਰ-ਸਲੈਸ਼ਰ ਮੌਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼ੀ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
According to prosecutors, Singh allegedly staged the death to look like a tragic farm accident involving a tractor-drawn slasher. Emergency services were called on February 15, 2024, where paramedics found Sardar’s body near the farm machinery, suffering from over 25 severe injuries.
However, forensic evidence presented in court, including DNA testimony from experts, revealed a brick located about 40 meters from the body—across a fence line—with Sardar’s hair and blood on it, supporting the theory that she was struck in the head with it before the scene was manipulated.Court documents and witness statements also indicated that Sardar had secretly recorded a video shortly before her death, expressing fears that her husband would kill her.
Minimal blood was found near the tractor, which forensic pathologist Dr. Beng Ong testified was inconsistent with her being alive and injured by the machinery at that time. Singh was reportedly performing CPR when police arrived and appeared distraught, but he chose not to present evidence, make a statement, or enter a plea during the hearing.The magistrate ordered Singh to stand trial at a later date in the Queensland Supreme Court. He remains in custody without bail.
The couple, who were married with two teenage children, had been living on the property that includes sugarcane fields, animals, and farm vehicles. Police seized the tractor, a slasher attachment, and a sedan from the scene for further examination.This case highlights ongoing concerns about domestic violence in rural communities, with no similar documented tractor-slasher fatalities reported previously.
